I really have a lot of respect for garbage men. I just put an obscene amount of garbage outside in preparation for the big move and they took everything (even the stuff not in bags) and, may I add, I think they picked it all up in record time. I’m just glad that I realized at 1:00am last night that today was garbage day or I would have been stuck with a lot of crap on moving day (this Saturday!) I can only imagine what it must be like to be a garbageman in a small college town where half the population cleans out their house once a year. You would be amazed at all of the garbage that can accumulate on the sidewalks here before garbage day. Not to mention the beer cans… thank god for recycling men too!
I think that I have an unhealthy obsession with America’s Next Top Model. I find myself completely sucked into these day long marathons when they’re on and before I know it, the day is over! And they are on A LOT. It’s a pretty good bet that you can find one of these marathons on at any given time throughout the week. I wish there was an America’s Next Top Model channel, but then I would probably get sick of them faster. One good thing about ANTM, yesterday they announced their new winner and she was a plus size model. Granted, she was probably a size 10 or 12, but at least it’s a step in the right direction from telling all model-driven girls that they need to be sticks.
I talked to my project manager at Millersville and I am all set to go in and meet with her next Thursday to file some more paperwork. I keep hearing from different sources that there is SO MUCH paperwork associated with being a VISTA and I hope that this task isn’t going to be too daunting. Ms.Fleishman called me the other day and she needed my passport and LUCKILY I hadn’t packed it up yet, so I just pulled it out and read her the ID number. I hope that she was impressed I was able to find it in about 2 seconds. I’m Organized! Kind of. I also hope to find out a little more about my housing arrangements. I really need to decided if I’m going to drag some of this furniture home, or if I’m just going to leave it here. I’m really so excited to start in this position in July! My project manager told me that I’ll be able to have a project of my own to start at Millersville and that will hopefully continue on after I leave, so I need to start researching different projects and organizations to come up with something that’s important to me as well as something that I think will flourish at the University.
So the boy finally called me yesterday. He came to town for the night and we got dinner at Ponderosa (bad decision, don’t go there) and rented movies. Apparently his phone died and he couldn’t find the charger (typical) and that’s why I hadn’t heard from him (which actually is a likely story) and it was good to spend some time with him before I move back across the state. I really don’t know how things are going to go after this move. I suppose only time can tell.
